Whether Christ has one or two esse?
Ad Mentem Thomae

This controversial question in Christology commonly draws a line in the sand between two groups. On the one hand, there are the Suarezians and Scotists who affirm two substantial *esse* in Christ. On the other hand, there are the Thomists who affirm only one substantial *esse* in Christ. Yet, when one diligently reads the text of St. Thomas, we see that his answer to this question is more complicated than may seem at first.
