Scheeben's Justification of the Magisterium, pt. 1
Scholasticism and Scripture
I am in the middle of writing an article that basically summarizes (with some of my own contributions) Scheeben’s justification and explanation of the magisterium and its necessity which flows from the very notion of Divine Revelation and the assent of faith.
He combines this “a priori” consideration with a consideration of the positive sources of scripture and tradition. I hope to combine them in a fruitful way in order to understand scripture “scholastically.” I pray that this will provide a good example for those concerned with the fruitful marriage of scholastic theology and biblical interpretation.
It is a work in progress and I am only in the first stage, but I will post the first draft of the sections that I write as I go along here. I hope you enjoy!
